I didn’t get a chance to let Magpie play before the public access test this morning. I thought I was going to be in trouble when she practically attacked the trainers when we showed up since she was so excited to see them. Once I took her for a stroll and worked on some obedience she realized she was working and we did well. My favorite part is when I had to drop the leash and then pick it up. They do this to make sure the dog won’t bolt if you ever let go of the leash. I didn’t doubt Magpie at all. When I dropped the leash and her entire roll of doggie clean up bags sprawled all over the floor she just kept heeling and then sat down when I stopped to clean it all up.
When we got to 4 Paws we finished all the paperwork for Magpie and then it was graduation time. We took a lot of photo’s, especially of Caitie who drove up from Kentucky to see Magpie graduate. Caitie fostered Magpie for 5 months and it was obvious they both still love each other a lot. It was so wonderful to be able to thank her in person for all she has done for us by helping with Magpie. She was even a trooper and ran to the store with us after and then we took her to dinner. Sadly dinner was not spectacular but the company was fantastic. Hope we didn’t scare her too much but we were all really excited to have finished the big day!
We are now all packed up and ready for our flights home tomorrow. It will be nice to unwind the next few days and settle Magpie into her new surroundings.
