We love McDonalds

It’s an odd title for a blog post, I know but I really do love McDonald’s.  Why?  To be honest it’s somewhere we go to let the kids burn off steam during the winter.  I am not a fan of the food unless it’s yogurt or the fruit oatmeal, but the clean play areas are wonderful when it is too cold to be outside.  The play area’s around us are always clean and often full of kids.  Most of the time Deeds just ignores them or will occasionally play with Gwen.  Then tonight we decided to stop by to let the kids play before bed.  I was doing homework and Daddy was playing on his phone when we heard squealing.  We both looked up and couldn’t stop smiling when we saw Deeds running around and playing with 2 other little boys there.  Thinking it would be short-lived I kept watching.  I was wrong.  They played for at least a half an hour.  Sure sometimes Deeds would act a little awkward but all in all it was awesome to see.

It was the longest we’ve seen him interact with kids that he doesn’t know really well.  I can’t even begin to describe how much progress he has made since he has been in this new school.  Getting to be in the classroom and helping once a week is fantastic.  He is so bright and really thrives on their routines.

The kids and Magpie after Church.

We have our dates set for Disneyland and can’t wait to go experience the magic with the kids.  As luck would have it we should be there during a pretty slow time so hopefully that will help so Deeds doesn’t get overwhelmed with crowds.  I was worried that if it was too crowded he’d sit hiding in a stroller with his blanket over his head and refusing to get out. The main task right now is to brush up on obedience with Magpie.  She seems to have decided she’d rather have fun at the last couple family functions we’ve gone to and struggles to listen.  When we head to stores or restaurants she usually snaps into top form.  Just need to get back into the swing of things working on simple obedience at home so that when we go to Disneyland she will be in tip-top shape.  I remember how much popcorn gets dropped on the ground at Disney parks and the last thing I need is her pulling and diving everywhere for the buttery bites.  Poor Magpie is probably not going to be a fan of the amusement park with all the temptation around.  Better make sure we have a lot of doggie treats to reward her when she does well.

To get the kids excited we have started to watch Disney movies they haven’t seen and we have been showing youtube videos to Deeds of the rides.  He’s tall enough to ride about everything but we’ll see what he really wants to do once we are there.  I hope seeing the videos before hand will help get him excited and know what to expect when we are there.
